Arrow Shark Hobby's radical and amazing Raptor canard hydro is an attention-grabber on any waterway - or on its display stand. With its unusual design, the Raptor has run up several years of success to prove that the forward-stepped and aft-sponsoned layout can be a winner when built to our exacting standards. A complex and multi-coloured paint scheme, now using the latest technology automotive paints, emphasises the swept-back styling of the Raptor's 50inch (1,270mm) hull that is flanked by those wide-spread aft sponsons. Last year we enhanced the Raptor with an extensive range of features including an adjustable CNC-machined strut, a high flow water pump driven by crankcase pulses to better cool the engine, a new tuned pipe exhaust with an integral muffler, a metal-gear hi-torque 15kg rudder servo for precise handling at 80+kph speeds, and the provision of both 2 and 3 blade props that were factory sharpened, balanced and polished for less vibration and more speed! All these features continue and, to take this stunning hydro to even higher levels of excitement and performance for 2010, we have upgraded the engine to our latest billet-built version of our XP254M which delivers an astonishing 6+hp at 19,000rpm! To cater for the greater power output, we have fitted the XP254M with a new and improved clutch that uses a CNC-machined no-spring plate for higher performance and even better reliability. As well, to maximise the benefits that the XP254M brings to the Raptor, we have produced a new Wrap-To-Flush exhaust header for a shorter tuned pipe length of around 370mm (from the exhaust flange to the middle of the tuned pipe); our previously-used Wrap-To-Centre header gave too long a tuned pipe length for the XP254M and could not deliver the new engine's full potential. The Raptor's hull/deck join has been improved as well for 2010, and is now strengthened with dual layers of fibreglass. The Raptor's performance can dominate any waterway, but the design will also allow hydro-novice drivers to quickly gain confidence. More experienced hydro drivers will instantly appreciate the Raptor's extraordinary out-of-the-box performance. With its potent power-pack inside, and its sensational design and graphics externally, the Raptor is a boat to make any owner proud.
